Early Care and Education Studies

We believe that high-quality early care and education is built on strong systems and a professional workforce.

That’s why we conduct research on both the early childhood education (ECE) workforce and the broader ECE system including supply, demand, policy and program structures.

Through grant-funded studies, we examine topics such as child care subsidies, infant–toddler care, workforce careers, regional child care needs and statewide policy frameworks. Our research uses a policy lens and often includes recommendations to strengthen North Carolina’s early childhood system.
