A 2014 statewide survey of North Carolina’s early care and education workforce was conducted by the Child Care Services Association from February through October 2014, collecting data from 760 center directors (19% of all programs), 3,286 teaching staff members, and 555 family child care providers (22% of that population). The survey used stratified random sampling across 14 Child Care Resource and Referral regions with weighted data to enable generalization to an estimated 28,200 teaching staff across 4,009 centers and 2,504 family child care programs serving children under six, building on 2011-2013 surveys to track changes in the ECE system over time.
